Not bad I think, now I have to get my grade 7 class to participate to the discussion and away we go, great way to encourage inolvement, they will so rather do this than to put pen to paper because this is "cool"!

Week 6: Wiki World: my thoughts

This is truly a whole new world for me. I experimented making my own wiki page last night. It was pretty straight forward alot like setting up a blog. I found it to be user friendly and "doable".
I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist and love fooling around with the editing tools, so I got a little frustrated when I couldn't get to look exactly like I wanted. I am not fazed by this though I realize that it will take alot more exploring and experimenting with it to use it to its full extent. The possibilites of this tool are really excting. I like the interaction that it encourages, and the idea of equal participation. Now I just need to find some uninterrupted time to sit down and play!

Week 5: Wikipedia

I am not sure exactly which rock I have been living under, and I am almost embarassed to admit this but here it goes, my confession... I was not aware that just anyone could edit in wikipedia. There I said it, the ground did not open up and swallow me whole!! Now understand that I knew wikipedia was not a reliable only source, because of lack of reference but the idea that anyone could comment and edit on it was news to me. So thanks to this course, another thing that I have learnt. Given the fact that this tool so easily manipulated, makes the hesitation to use it understandable. Once again everything in moderation, teach the students to use it critically and evaluate and further research their findings.

Week 4: Animoto experience

Alright I just played around with Animoto. Thought it was great and would really appeal to students, the mix of video and music is a sure bet to grab and keep their attention. This would be a great tool to use to kick off the school year. That typical "What did you do this Summer" could go from boring written paragraph to visual, exciting presentation. You could do great things with this tool!!

This quick little video took me less than 10 minutes to create, so it is very user friendly, which left me feeling like my next profession could be that of a music video producer, who knows?

Week 5: Wiki Edit

I have just done my very first wiki edit. I was very happy to have the help of a fellow classmate to guide me through the process, I must say that we had a few giggles over the whole thing. Here it is

My edit was the comment on Pebble Hill Traditional School, how it recently transformed to a tradtional school focussed on discipline and respect.
